New Jersey Aviation
Many bills introduced in the New Jersey State Legislature have the ability to affect our privileges as pilots, aircraft owners, and airport operators. As people involved in New Jersey's aviation industry, we all have a responsibility to be aware of pending legislation and to make our opinions known to our representatives in the State Senate and Assembly.
Pending Legislation in the Assembly and Senate
The legislation in the State Assembly and Senate is changing all the time, so rather than trying to keep an up-to-date list of pending legislation, here are instructions on how to find the bills that are of interest to you. You might want to print out this page for future reference.
Go to "www.state.nj.us"
Click on "NJ Legislature"
Over on the right side of the page, you can enter keywords. Enter "airports" for example, then press enter or click on "Search". Note that "airport" and "airports" will retrieve different lists of bills.
Click on the bill number to get detailed information on the bill.
Go to "www.state.nj.us"
Click on "NJ Legislature"
Over on the left side of the page (you may have to scroll down a bit), click on "Find Your Legislator".
If you know the name of your legislator, but just need to get contact information, click on "Alphabetical List of Members" (senators are listed first), then click on the name you need.
If you don't know the names of your legislators, click on "Municipality", then scroll down until you find your town's name. Click on it and you will get the list of towns in the district. Click on the district number and, lo and behold, the names and contact information for your legislators will appear. Click on the name, and you'll get detailed information - email address, what committees they're on, a link to a list of sponsored bils, even what they look like!
Now that you know how to contact your legislators and let them know how you feel about the bills that affect you!
